Amanda Ward Memorial Scholarship
Amanda Nicole Ward was born on February 12, 1999, to Jimmy and Amy Ward. She attended both North Woolmarket and d’Iberville Schools. Amanda grew up playing sports her entire life. She played for the Woolmarket Softball League, and later she became a player for the d’Iberville High School Softball Team playing short stop and in the outfield. Amanda always gave 110% anytime she played. She was an avid player in both softball and basketball. Amanda had no problem guarding someone much larger than herself or standing strong against any pitcher on the mound. Her tenacity on the field as well as on the court earned her the nickname “Bulldog” because she never gave up. It was a badge of honor she proudly wore everywhere and anytime that she played.
Amanda was called home by our Lord and Savior on March 13, 2015. She touched so many people within our community. Her dedication and selfless service to others was obvious to all that knew her. Amanda left an indelible mark in our hearts and minds as well as our souls. It is a privilege that the Ward Family has allowed us to honor Amanda by dedicating our yearly tournament as well as a yearly scholarship to a graduating senior in her name. The d’Iberville Girls’ Youth Softball League will continue to honor Amanda in the years to come just as she honored us all.
